Project Engineer

US Solar is hiring a Project Engineer to oversee engineering activities through the life cycle of US Solar’s Development and Operations activities. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities

Creation and maintenance of Basis of Design (BOD) based on:

  • State / regional uniqueness
  • New technologies (including Energy Storage)
  • Contractor feedback
  • Evolution of uses

Assuring internal and external counterparties utilize most current BOD.

Selection of engineering partners in new and existing markets

  • Build engineering scopes of work
  • Request competitive proposals
  • Administer the creation and execution of service contracts

Maintain engineering partner relationships

  • Attend regular meetings
  • Capture meeting minutes
  • Responsible for engineering schedules
  • Administer engineering invoices and applicable change orders

Quality Control and Document Control

  • Review engineering deliverables to assure accuracy of requested elements.
  • Assure appropriate file storage for transparency with all departments.

Dispersal of engineering information to internal and external stakeholders.

Cost and Risk Analysis:

  • Understanding the impact of design decisions on project budgets and risks.

Utility Support:

  • Assist Development and Operations staff in technical issues arising from utility interaction
  • Participate in US Solar response to RFPs with utilities and related potential customers.

Procurement support:

  • Assist Project Manager in administration of RFPs to material suppliers
  • Assess deliverables from potential suppliers
  • Assure compliance with BOD and Technical Specifications

Respond to Financial Counter-party technical questions as part of Due Diligence.

Drive US Solar personnel to timely respond to engineering requests.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.  Electrical or Power Systems Engineering experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role or utilizing similar core proficiencies.  
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of development and construction activities.
  • Solar PV experience and knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to do minor in-state traveling
